Gray Machines

Gray machines refer to video lottery machines that some people consider legal and others consider illegal – hence the term “gray.”

The purveyors of the machines point to the fact that they have a “pre-reveal” option, and that the winning combinations are pre-loaded into the machines rather than randomly generated.  Their strict reading of the law puts these devices outside the definitions of “games of chance.”

Critics of the machines say that, despite the legal technicalities, the user experience is hardly different from a gambling machine.
